Disclaimer
Please read this before relying on any number from this tool.
1. Not a fatwa
This tool provides illustrative mathematical calculations only. It does not issue fatwas and does not represent the view of any school of thought or authority. Do not rely on it for paying zakat without asking a trusted scholar.
2. Worn gold jewellery
One of the best-known points of scholarly disagreement is whether zakat is due on personal jewellery worn for adornment. The majority view exempts it, while paying zakat is the more cautious position when nisab is reached. This tool does not settle that disagreement.
3. Price sources
Live prices come from external sources and may be delayed or briefly inaccurate. Zakat on gold is assessed on the value of the metal at the time of payment, and the spot price may differ from the local market price. Check the price with a source you trust before paying.
4. Matters not covered
This tool does not address in detail: zakat on crops, livestock, livestock and metals; zakat on financial papers and digital currencies; inheritance and bequests; or zakat al-fitr. Please consult qualified scholars on these.
5. Limitation of liability
The tool is provided "as is" without warranty. We accept no responsibility for any financial or religious decision taken on the basis of its numbers.
Nisab values
The nisab by weight is 85 grams of pure gold (or 87.48 grams using the precise estimate) and 595 grams of silver (or 612.36 grams). The cash value of the nisab changes daily.
